About Stephanie
A performer’s instincts.
A voice all her own.
I’ve never been a one-note woman. I bring a lifetime of characters, comedy, drama, reinvention and beautifully unexpected turns to every story I tell.

The biography
Theatre taught me how to hold a room.
Life taught me to tell the truth.
From stages to television and voiceover booths, Stephanie St. James brings more than 35 years of professional experience to her work. Her credits include The Color Purple, Rent, Footloose, Fame, Grease and Celtic Fusion, along with television work on Portlandia. She is a NAACP Theatre Award nominee and BroadwayWorld Award winner.
Her career has taken her through exhilarating seasons, unexpected challenges and the kind of reinvention that changes an artist’s point of view. Today, that perspective shapes a voiceover practice rooted in warmth, wit, clarity and real human connection—whether she is recording a commercial, animation, video game, narration, e-learning or documentary project.
Stephanie is also a professional acting coach and entrepreneur. She coaches performers pursuing musical theatre, film, television, voiceover and beyond; her students have gone on to Hamilton on Broadway, the Mamma Mia! national tour, Mean Girls, Burn Notice, Disney Cruise Line, film, television and commercials.
Theatre taught her how to hold a room. Comedy taught her when to let it breathe. Life taught her that the interesting choice is usually the honest one.
